I like listening to science and health podcasts, and this month I found some interesting episodes of my favorite science show, Science Vs. The episodes are pretty short, with most of them being between 15-30 minutes and they cover all sorts of topics from COVID-19 to astrology.  Here are three episodes included in this month’s playlist.

  • SNAKES!!!: Snake venom is lethal stuff, and the method for making anti-venom hasn’t changed in over a hundred years.
  • Peanuts: Public Enemy No. 1?: More and more kids in the US and UK were getting peanut allergies, but other countries weren’t having that problem, and this study may explain why.
  • Screens: Are They Ruining Our Brains and Mental Health and Eyes and: How much screen time should kids be allowed to have? Do you really need blue light glasses?

She Explores is a community of women who love the outdoors. This episode features women who work for the National Park Service and the US Forest Service and the challenges they face from the job and the men who surround them.

Clea and Joanna of The Home Edit share tips on keeping a tidy home, even with kids | The Motherly Podcast
Am I mother? Absolutely not, but I loved watching The Home Edit on Netflix! It’s refreshing to hear how candid Clea and Joanna are about their experiences with children and how they created their dream job.

Shea McGee on Recalibration, Balance, and the Beauty in Everyday | The Motherly Podcast
Dream Home Makeover is another great Netflix binge and it was cool to hear more of the backstory of how Shea started Studio McGee and how she is running her business while pregnant with her third child.

If you’re looking for a fun and clear introduction to NFTs, you should definitely listen to this episode!

The ‘Grow It Yourself’ Revolution with Zooey Deschanel | Teach Me Something New with Brit Morin
Did you know Zooey Deschanel has a business that sells aesthetic hydroponic systems so you can grow your own food? Well she does, and of course it’s called Lettuce Grow! She’s so down to earth and I’m even more obsessed with her than ever.

“Billie Eilish & Finneas O’Connell” | SmartLess
I’m a big fan of Billie Eilish and already watched her documentary on Apple TV, but this conversation gives even more insight into her life.

454. Should Traffic Lights Be Abolished? | Freakonomics
There’s a city in Indiana that has more roundabouts than traffic lights and this episode will prove why roundabouts are better for reducing car crashes and cost efficiencies.

00: The most epic battle in music history | Spotify: A Product Story
This is a whole series from Spotify that goes over the history of the streaming music industry, taking it back to Napster.  I was too young to remember, but there was a whole situation with Metallica, and I’m excited to listen to the rest of the episodes!

Mailbag and Song Draft | Every Single Album: Taylor Swift | Ringer Dish
Ringer Dish is a celebrity news podcast and the hosts have created episodes that go in-depth into every single Taylor Swift album, including Fearless (Taylor’s Version). In this episode, the hosts answer questions from listeners about what they think Taylor’s up to next, and then they get into a competitive song draft that they treat like a sports draft.  True Swifties will love!

Anti-Asian Violence w/Dr. Jennifer Ho, Marla Teyolia & Kim Trinh | From Woke to Work
This episode talks about the model minority myth and how Asian women are feeling during this time of violence against Asian Americans. Kim was one of my previous internship managers, and it was interesting to learn about her experiences at work and growing up in Ohio.
