2020 New Year’s Resolutions Results

2020 RESOLUTIONS RESULTS: 4.5/11

Not shocking, but I didn’t accomplish a lot of my resolutions because of the virus.  I forgot about half of them by April anyway, but I did work really hard to finish my reading resolution in December!  This year has been so strange, but I feel good about what I’ve done with my time.  My biggest achievement of this year (besides surviving, tbh very important) was deciding to create this blog and then designing and launching it in three weeks!

1. Run a half marathon – NOPE
Welp, the 2020 Rock n Roll Half was canceled in June due to coronavirus, but my registration rolled over to 2021 so we’ll see if that happens!

2. Have 50% of the models I photograph be people of color – NOPE
I only got to take portraits for the first 3 months of the year and I definitely did not get to achieve this:(. I did get to do my first UW senior shoot for my sister and her friends, which was new and fun!

3. Try one new recipe a month – NOPE
It didn’t happen, y’all.  I went back to Seattle in March and my mom’s been doing all of the cooking and I’ve been doing all the cleaning.  Definitely not mad about it, like look at what she’s made!!

4. Only buy clothes from secondhand stores – NOPE
Thrift stores did not seem like the place to be during COVID, and I ended up doing more online shopping than I would’ve liked.  No regrets on this Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream sweatshirt, though.

5. Listen to one podcast a week – YEP
I go on a lot of walk and wash my family’s dishes every day, so that’s given me several hours each week to listen to A TON of podcasts.  Check out my favorite episodes from October, November, and December.

6. Read 6 books – YEP
I did not use my library cards, but I did read 6 books, some of them were from high school hehe! I read The Boys in the Boat, The Alchemist, Olive’s Ocean, Wild, Jeremy Fink and the Meaning of Life, and How I Built This.

7. Go to church once a month – NOPE
I did go to Churchome a couple of times while I was in LA.  I’ve never gone to church in Seattle, and I don’t think they’re holding in-person services (?), but I really like the little videos on the Churchome app.

8. Drink 64oz of water a day – YEP
I think I did do this! I don’t know, I just feel thirsty all the time now?

9. Be more informed by reading my headlines on Feedly, theSkimm, Apple News, do what I gotta do. – YEP
Ha! As if I had a choice.  The news was unavoidable this year, as it permeated all social media platforms. I also kept up with a lot of news through Feedly for my corporate job and I actually read theSkimm‘s newsletters.

10. Play the guitar or ukulele once a week – NOPE
I was doing so well with this one, but then I didn’t bring my guitar or ukulele with me back to WA, so I haven’t played since March.

11. Create a daily skincare routine and stick to it – KIND OF
I don’t know if you’d call it a routine, I just own a face wash, toner, and moisturizer, so that’s what I’ve used.  I did get some Glossier and Kiehl’s products this holiday season, so I’m excited to try those!
