Wall Crawl: Most Instagrammable Walls in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is full of colorful Instagrammable walls. You could probably get a month’s worth of social media content just walking down certain streets! Murals change all the time, so sometimes you’ll see an Instagrammable wall, and then it will be different the next month.  As far as I know, these murals are still there, but let me know if they’re gone.

Many of the Instagrammable walls in Los Angeles are in more residential areas, so I use SpotAngels.com or the Spot Angels app to find free parking.

All photos are my own.

VENICE

The main place you will find murals and cool walls on Abbot Kinney Blvd. This is a street where the hipsters of LA roam with trendy boutiques and cute cafes and restaurants.  These are only some of my favorite walls, but there are so many more! There is plenty of neighborhood parking nearby, so don’t worry if you can’t find a spot on Abbot Kinney Blvd.

Geometric Wall
1201 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291
This wall has a blue wave and is located off of Abbot Kinney Blvd, behind a brick storefront.

Love wall
1239 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291
There are several love walls around Los Angeles, but this one is in Venice, behind Greenleaf Chopshop on Santa Clara Ave.

Aviator Nation wall
1224 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291
This is a cool wall and would look good with any outfit!

WEST HOLLYWOOD

Melrose Avenue is a long street in West Hollywood and this is where you can find some of Los Angeles’s most Instagrammed walls.   You will definitely not be the only person taking photos here, so take turns and be respectful of everyone’s time. I usually park somewhere on the west end by Alfred Tea Room and walk east.

Butterfly wall
621 N La Cienega Blvd, West Hollywood, CA 90069
This mural is located in a parking lot that’s never seemed to be too busy on Sundays for me, but there could be cars blocking it, so best to get there early in the morning to be safe.  I’ve found it easiest to park near Alfred Tea Room and just cross the street.

The Pink Wall
8221 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
It’s that pink wall. Iconic. The Paul Smith store is entirely pink, you can’t miss it driving down Melrose Avenue.  Sometimes there’s a guy sitting on a stool whose sole job is to tell people that you can’t take photos with a camera, only cell phone pics are allowed, which is super strange.  You definitely won’t be alone here. There’s plenty of street parking in the neighborhoods off Melrose, just be sure to read the parking signs.

Carrera Cafe wall
8251 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Directly across from The Pink Wall is Carrera Cafe, which has an ever-changing mural on the side of it.  The first time I ever saw it was this La La Land mural, but they usually change every month, I’ve seen it with Lady Gaga on it and scenes from other movies.  It’s fun! You never know what you’re going to see.  I’ve never been inside Carrera Cafe, but it’s known for printing photos onto your coffee, and one day I will get Taylor Swift printed onto my latte.

Made In LA wall
8025 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
Another iconic wall, this one can be tricky because there’s a parking spot right in front of it.  Sometimes you get lucky, but if you don’t want to risk it, try going early in the morning.

Rainbow Crochet wall
8050 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
There are several crochet rainbows of varying sizes along this wall.  I love how colorful these are! Definitely bring a wider lens to get the full wall!

Girls Tour wall
708 N Orange Grove Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90046
This is on a street off Melrose Ave, down past the alley of Sorella Boutique.  The mural changes colors and fonts.  The first time I saw it, it was orange and white, but it always says Girls Tour. Bring a wide angle lens to get the whole mural.

PICO-ROBERTSON/CULVER CITY

This area of the city is largely residential, and not really near any other touristy places, so no worries about seeing too many other people taking photos here.

Mondrian wall
1660 La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90035
This wall is on the side of Artist & Craftsman Supply on Airdrome St. and there’s a little parking lot behind it, and there’s plenty of street parking in the surrounding neighborhoods.

Barbara Mendes wall
2709 S Robertson Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90034
This is a big colorful mural on the side of Barbara Mendes gallery.  I’m not exactly sure what it’s supposed to be of, it looks like it could be kind of religious, but it’s a colorful awesome mural.  There’s free parking in the neighborhood on Gibson St.

California Dreaming wall
3485 S La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90016
This wall is located at the parking lot of the fashion company Chinese Laundry Shoes near the Target on La Cienega, which is great because there’s free parking.  I’d recommend coming early in the morning, on a weekend, or on a holiday, so there aren’t any cars in the parking lot that will block the mural.

Love wall
8538 Hayden Ave, Culver City, CA 90232
If you’re in need of creating some Valentine’s Day content, 10/10 would recommend coming to take photos here. This wall is randomly in a businessy area of Culver City, so I’d recommend coming during a weekend or early morning to be able to find parking.

MID-CITY

This area of LA is largely businesses, but there are still a few cool murals.

Self-Care wall
7228 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90036
This is at the parking lot for Heyday and there’s some free street parking along Alta Vista Blvd.

DOWNTOWN LA

Both of these murals listed below are located at The Row DTLA.  I used to go on Sundays when there was the outdoor food market, Smorgasburg LA, and parking in the large garage was free for the first hour at 777 S Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90021.

Turquoise and Orange wall
777 Alameda St, Los Angeles, CA 90021
I don’t know what this wall is called, but it’s on the side of the parking garage at The Row DTLA.  Exit the garage onto Dock St and it should be immediately to your left.

Colorful wall
1320 E 7th St #200, Los Angeles, CA 90021
I don’t know what to call this wall, but it is only accessible from The Row DTLA. Park in the garage, then walk past Dock St and turn right on the next street and walk all the way down to the gate.

SILVERLAKE

Silverlake is also a hipster neighborhood in Los Angeles, but it’s a lot quieter than Venice.  There are several staircases and Instagrammable walls and it’s somewhere I want to explore more of when I get back to Los Angeles.

LA Je T’Aime
1784 Rotary Dr, Los Angeles, CA 90026
This is part of the Silverlake Stairs. There are several murals, and as you can see, the lighting can look weird, so come at sunrise, sunset, or on a cloudy day.

The Piano Stairs
3229 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
This isn’t technically a wall, but it’s still Instagram-worthy. This is a 90 step staircase in Silverlake, and it’s one of the more hidden places in LA. There’s free street parking on Larissa Dr, or you can pay for a meter along Sunset Blvd.

These are just some of my favorite Instagrammable walls in Los Angeles. There are so many more I want to photograph and find like the Polka Dot wall.  Do you know of any walls that I missed? Let me know in the comments below!
