I was inspired to share my morning routine since I love watching “get ready with me” (GRWM) videos on YouTube. I feel like I’ve usually had some sort of morning routine, but I started really getting serious about making a night routine after I started getting anxiety. I’m not the best at sticking to these routines, but I do notice that I feel a lot better when I do.
For some context, I am 24 years old and work full-time at an advertising agency. I’m currently living at my parents’ house in Bellevue, WA, but I usually live in an apartment in Los Angeles. Naturally, these routines won’t work for everyone, but I think it’s always helpful to see what people are doing to get ready for their day!

MY MORNING ROUTINE FOR SUCCESS AT WORK
My morning routine is all about getting myself ready to sit and work at my computer for 8+ hours a day.
7:00am: The first of several alarms go off. I usually hit snooze a few times before checking social media, getting out of bed, brushing my teeth, etc.
7:30am: Time to workout. In pre-pandemic times I would be at the gym by 7am, but times have changed. Now, I do a MadFit 10-20 minute ab workout video on YouTube. I started with her beginner exercises and I can tell I’ve gotten stronger. Then, I’ll ride my mom’s stationary bike and read through emails if it’s cold or rainy. If it’s nice outside, I like to go on a walk and listen to podcasts.
8:30am: I shower and do my full skincare routine. My skin isn’t too sensitive, so I frequently change skincare brands, but I’ve been using this foaming cleanser by No B.S. Then I use this Kiehl’s alcohol-free toner, Grace & Bella hyaluronic acid serum, and Grown Alchemist moisturizer.
8:50am: Breakfast! I love breakfast food, and in a perfect world I’d actually cook, but I’m lazy and have been opting for a yogurt bowl. I like to add granola, these cacao nibs from Terrasoul Superfoods, some sort of berry, turmeric, cinnamon, and this collagen peptide powder. If we have avocados, I’ll put half an avocado on a brown rice cake with Cholula hot sauce and Everything But the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joe’s.
9:00am: Log in to my computer for work. I find that exercising actually helps me have more energy for work. Lately, my hours have been pretty long, so I have to workout in the morning.
MY NIGHT ROUTINE FOR SUCCESS (SLEEP)
I definitely have a tendency to stay up too late. My night routine is all about trying to wind down and get myself to sleep as quickly as possible. I always struggle to shut my brain off and sometimes toss and turn for hours, and I can’t remember a time in my life when sleep came easy to me. However, I can tell having this routine does help me sleep better than just watching tv and going to bed.
10:15pm: I start getting ready for bed. To start, I fill up my aroma diffuser and with one of these Woolzies Sleep Collection oils that may last forever because they’re extremely fragrant. Two drops will last me for two days!
10:20pm: For skincare, I just repeat my morning routine. Sometimes I use this Cannalogica facial hydration oil that I got in my Therabox earlier this year. I swear it makes pimples disappear overnight or in two nights max! I also like to think the CBD could help relax me, but I doubt it. Then, I floss and brush my teeth and reply to any texts I forgot to reply to during the day.
10:45pm: Time to read! If it’s a self-help or business book, I only get through 15-20 pages before I’m tired and can’t focus. If I actually did this every night instead of scrolling more on my phone, I could finish a book every 2 weeks! Check out my 2021 reading list here.
11:15pm: Lights out and pray I can fall asleep before midnight. If I find that I’m just tossing and turning, I use the Churchome app and do one or more of the Guided Prayers, which are around 5 minutes. That usually helps me calm down and incorporates gratitude which is always good.
