2026 New Year’s Resolutions

Wow 2026 I can’t believe it. I feel like 2025 went by in the blink of an eye. I don’t really know what this year will bring. I kind of want to chill out a little more. I’m starting to appreciate a slower life of reading, embroidering, and just staying home and watching tv and movies. However, I do still have some goals I am working towards this year.

  1. Go on 5 new hikes
This is a carry-over goal from 2025. There are some hikes in Los Angeles that have been on my bucket list for a while, but I also want to do some other longer hikes.
  2. Clean my bathroom every 3 weeks
I started cleaning my bathroom once a month in 2025, and I feel like now it gets dirtier faster??
  3. Get a half marathon PR
I’ve signed up for a third and final half marathon in May, and I really want to beat my Las Vegas half marathon time of 2:18.
  4. Stretch 3x a week
This is also a carryover goal from last year. I have a lot of good habits, but I want to continue setting myself up for success as I get older and it would be good to start stretching while I’m still relatively young and limber.
  5. Find a dermatologist and optometrist
I’ve always gone to the doctor and finally found a dentist in LA and have been going regularly for a couple of years. Now I need to get the rest of my appointments in order. I’ve been lucky enough to have clear skin growing up, so I haven’t regularly been going to the dermatologist, but I know it’s good for me to have a general check-up. I went to the optometrist back in college and had 20/20 vision, but I feel like it has deteriorated in the past year, especially my ability to see things that are far away.
  6. Read the news 3x a week
I notoriously do not keep up with the news and sadly have been getting most of my news updates through social media (it’s the Gen-Z in me), but I know I can do better. I’ve subscribed to a ton of newsletters in the past and I think my favorite is still The Daily Skimm since it provides daily global news updates but also has more pop culture and lifestyle content.
  7. Publish 1 non-travel blog post a month
I keep an ongoing list of blog post ideas in my Notes app, and I just need to write them! I also want to post more casually on here and remind myself that not every blog post has to be 2,000 words long.
  8. Cook 20 recipes from my cookbooks
I make salad 90% of the time, but I have amassed 7 cookbooks, and I really need to start using them!
  9. Go to Silent Book Club
What is Silent Book Club, you ask? It’s where people meet up at coffee shops, breweries, or parks and spend time reading in silence, followed by a period of optional socialization. There are several “chapters” all over LA (and other major cities, I’m guessing). I have been following @silentbookclubwestla and @silentbookclubinglewood on Instagram for the past year and have not made it out to a meetup
