Latest Obsessions (October 2024)

Here are some things I can’t get enough of lately!

Shokz Headphones
I bought my Shokz during Black Friday last year and they go on sale for Prime Day and Black Friday, and my whole family has them! Claypool family-approved!  When I started training for my half marathon last year, I started following some running influencers, and many of them promoted Shokz headphones. These headphones use bone conduction technology and idk what that really means, but basically they sit just on the bone right in front of your ears instead of going in your ear drum. This allows you to still hear your surroundings, making it great for when you’re running and have to pay attention to traffic or if you’re running alone and you’re a girl. The music is still clear, and I don’t have to worry about them falling out of my ears like I did with AirPods and cost about the same. I only use mine for running, and I only need to charge them about once or twice a month. I think my family and I all got the mini size.

Ouai Hair Mask
For some reason I only learned this year that wavy/curly hair is dryer than straight hair, so I am on a hair-healing journey to moisturize my hair. My sister got me this Ouai hair mask for my birthday and it smells DIVINE!! I’ve never used a hair mask before, but my hair felt so smooth even in the shower, it’s nothing like any conditioner I’ve had before. I used it about 2-3 times a week for 3 months before I ran out, and it made my hair silky soft.

The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives
I am not a good TV watcher. Like I could go a week without turning on the TV and when my roommate is gone, I often do. However, I am trying to be better and watch more TV (an odd goal, I know) to stay in the know and get off my phone. The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (on Hulu) is peak trash television and has some legit drama I’m obsessed. It shows a more modern side to Mormonism and I’m here for it.

Barebells
If you hate the taste or texture of protein bars, then you need to try Barebells. They sell the bars individually at Trader Joe’s and they straight up taste like candy bars. Seriously, how can this have 20 grams of protein and taste like a Snickers bar?? Actually, I don’t even want to know. Let’s not spoil the fun. My Trader Joe’s only carries like 5 flavors and I wish they had them all! Not all of them are vegan, but I like that they have the option and taste just as good as the non-vegan one.

Diatomaceous Earth Bath Mat
I had a normal plush chenille fabric bathmat, but I truthfully only washed it maybeee twice a year. When I discovered there was a cockroach or some sort of bug visiting my bathroom at night this summer, I got rid of it to reduce places that could hold moisture. It was also huge. So I had heard of stone bathmats when I was looking on Amazon and I found this perfect little 24 x 16 inch mat. It absorbs all the water after stepping on it twice and it instantly dries before my eyes like a Buddha board.

Stanley Cup
I have been resistant to getting a Stanley Cup mostly because I didn’t want to deal with washing a straw. But I recently went into my office and they were giving away company-branded Stanley Cups, so I grabbed one. It holds 40 oz and my roommate laughs at me because half the size of my torso, but I’m more hydrated than I ever have been in my whole life! I’ve been drinking two of them a day and just plop the straw in the dishwasher.

The Skinny Confidential
I have been listening to The Skinny Confidential Him & Her podcast for a few years now. It’s hosted by Lauryn and Michael Bosstick, who have built up a small empire through The Skinny Confidential blog, podcast, and its line of wellness products.  It’s definitely one of the best interview podcasts, and they have a wide variety of guests from CEOs to doctors and celebrities. They ask really specific questions and will not let guests off the hook with a vague answer. Some of my favorite episodes are with Barbara Corcoran, Jordan Peterson (Athletic Greens), Todd White (Dry Farm Wines), and Ed Mylett.

Shower Comb
I don’t know how I have survived so long without this! I used to just comb through my hair with my fingers in the shower and try to detangle it, but now I just keep this comb in the shower. I hang it on my shower caddy. I didn’t bring it with me to Hawaii and definitely noticed, so I made sure to bring it on my Europe trip.

It’s the Olympics and if you like women’s sports, you need to be following @togethxr on Instagram for all the highlights! Togethxr was founded by professional female athletes Alex Morgan, Chloe Kim, Sue Bird, and Simone Manuel. You may have seen their merch, with apparel that says “Everyone watches women’s sports.” I have been tempted to buy a t-shirt several times, and one day I’m sure I’ll bite the bullet.
