How to Get Jeopardy Tickets

If you’ve ever wanted to get Jeopardy tickets and watch a live taping, read this blog post for all the information you need to know before you go!

I’ve been to tapings for Regis & Kelly in NY, The Late Late Show with James Corden, and American Idol. Jeopardy is my new favorite, as it was the most relaxed taping with the least waiting and standing!  10 out of 10, would recommend!

All information is current as of November 2023.

Where is Jeopardy filmed?

As of writing, they film Jeopardy on the Sony Studio lot in Culver City, CA. It could easily take an hour to get from the Hollywood Walk of Fame to Culver City, so plan for traffic accordingly.
Address: Sony Pictures Studios, 3970 Overland Ave, Culver City, CA 90232

Where to get tickets for a Jeopardy taping:

Jeopardy tickets are 100% free to reserve! You can sign up for free tickets to Jeopary and other game shows (American Idol, Family Feud) and competition shows (America’s Got Talent, American Ninja Warrior) on On-camera-audiences.com. For other shows like The Voice and some movie premieres, you can check out 1iota.com

Jeopardy tapes during the work week, so you won’t be able to go on the weekend. I happened to have a Tuesday off from work and I reserved my ticket about a week and a half in advance and just went by myself. Similar to my American Idol ticket experience, the website doesn’t feel legit, but it is! This time, I did get an email confirmation with my ticket, which also included instructions about when to arrive, parking, and what to wear.

What to wear and bring to a Jeopardy taping:

The audience isn’t really shown on TV very much during an episode of Jeopardy, so I feel like they were less concerned with what you wore than a show like American Idol or daytime talk show. The ticket only said to wear business casual attire; however, I still wouldn’t recommend wearing any clothes with huge logos. It also said to wear layers since it can get cold in the studio. I just wore a sweater, jeans, and Nikes and brought a fanny pack.

Food is not allowed in the studio and there’s nowhere to purchase it, so eat before you come! Good breakfast options that are walkable from the studio are Cofax, HomeState, Super Domestic Coffee, Go Get Em Tiger, and Cafe Vida. If you have a car, I had breakfast at Destroyer a couple of miles away.

You should bring your ID and ticket, either printed or on your phone. Big bags were not allowed, but you could bring small purses.

You can bring your phone, but you aren’t allowed to use it during the taping or in the studio.

Getting to the Jeopardy studio:

The Sony lot is big, but not as big as Universal or Fox. As directed on the ticket, you’ll drive onto the lot from Overland Avenue and tell the person at the entrance booth that you’re there for a Jeopardy taping and they’ll direct you where to park. For my taping, it was straight into the garage and on the third floor or higher.

My ticket said to get there by 10 am and I got there around 9:40 am. You walk or take the elevator down to the first floor of the garage and check in with the audience coordinators, get a wristband, and wait on the benches in the seating area. You can’t miss this, it’s by the exit of the garage. There is also a bathroom down here.

At 10:15 am, I was walking through a metal detector and then audience coordinators had us line up and then walked us through the Sony lot to the Jeopardy soundstage. It wasn’t very far, but we walked past the Wheel of Fortune stage, so that was cool. There, we waited about 20 minutes longer and there were proper bathrooms for everyone.

In the Jeopardy studio:

We got into the studio around 10:50 am, then we started filming shortly after. We learned that we would be taping for the Tournament of Champions, so all the contestants were previous Jeopardy winners.

The only things the producers warn you about is not taking any photos or videos in the studio and not blurting out the answers. Since the audience is mostly full of senior citizens and nerdy people who like trivia (it’s me, I’m those people), you don’t really have to worry about behavior issues. The audience isn’t a big part of Jeopardy, we were mostly just instructed to clap and it was just a very relaxed and easy environment to be in. We were able to sit the entire time.

The shows are only 30 minutes with commercials, so they are pretty quick without commercials. Jeopardy isn’t a live show, so they’re able to do several takes if needed. The host was Ken Jennings, and he was very nice and came out and talked to the audience during the breaks.

They were filming 2 episodes, and after the first episode, there was a bathroom break. We were able to leave our seats and take photos in the little Jeopardy history hall and podiums outside of the set.

We filmed the second episode at noon and we were finished by 12:45 pm, so overall it was a pretty quick experience compared to other shows I’ve seen. I would definitely go to another taping and hope to take my parents when they visit me in LA in the future!

My episodes were supposed to air on December 7 and 8, so a month after we taped. I don’t have cable, so I unfortunately didn’t get to watch them.
