A Lively Los Angeles Ghost Tour

Los Angeles has so many things to do, and since I’ve been traveling a little less this year, I’ve been having fun being a tourist in my own city! I’ve been to so many more museums and restaurants, and I even did a Hollywood homes bus tour with my friends for my birthday. When US Ghost Adventures reached out to have me check out their Los Angeles Ghost Tour, I said sign me up!

*While I was gifted tickets for this tour, all opinions are my own.*

I took the LA Ghosts: Terrors of Tinseltown Tour at 8 pm on a Monday night, which met up in front of the El Capitan Theatre in the heart of Hollywood. Our tour guide, Heather, was a great storyteller and started the tour with some history of the theater and some unfortunate events that transpired inside. There were four other people on the tour with us and one person brought some sort of device that measured electromagnetic fields and would light up yellow at a few spots along the tour route.

I don’t want to give anything away, but from there, we walked to five other locations around the Walk of Fame. We were supposed to stop at the TCL Chinese Theater, but we couldn’t because there was a movie premiere event for Nobody 2…just LA things.

The whole tour took a little over an hour, and we ended at the 13-story Hollywood First National Bank Building, which is rumored to be haunted and has remained empty for almost 20 years, despite being on one of the most touristy corners in all of LA, at the intersection of Hollywood Blvd & Highland Ave. The night we went, there was a random light on in the building, which was a first, according to our tour guide. She also showed us a few photos people had sent her from other nights where you could definitely see some ghost-like figures in the upper windows. Is it Photoshop or is it a ghost, we’ll never know!

We walked to Mashti Malone’s for Persian-style ice cream afterward, but there are a ton of fun places to eat around the area, like the Win~Dow (affordable smashburgers/fries/milkshakes), Musso & Frank Grill (a classic Hollywood white tablecloth restaurant), or even Taco Bell Cantina (Taco Bell but with alcohol, open late).

I don’t know if I believe in ghosts, but I still found this tour overall very entertaining! And as someone who doesn’t like scary things, this tour wasn’t bad at all!  You get some history of the city with some murders and suicides thrown in, but they aren’t described gruesomely. There’s apparently even an extended version of the tour you can book (half of the people on our tour did!), or take the Ultimate Dead of Night Haunted Ghost Tour at 10 pm, which may give you a better chance of seeing a ghost??

If you’re looking for something unique to do in Los Angeles, these tours are offered every day at 8 pm and 10 pm, rain or shine! I think it would be a fun activity closer to Halloween in October.
