I’m back in Bellevue for a bit and brought my camera, so I planned a shoot with my friend and fellow blogger, Kerstin. I scoured Google Maps for a place to take photos since I didn’t want to drive very far or have to deal with traffic and parking in Seattle. Since I did dozens of high school senior shoots, I’ve shot at almost every park in Bellevue, but I hadn’t been to Kelsey Creek Park in years. I remembered there was a big white barn, so I decided we’d go for a farmer’s market/end of summer vibe with neutral-colored outfits and a bouquet of flowers.
I grabbed a basket from our coat closet, picked up Kerstin, and then we went to the closest grocery store to get some flowers. Props can really add a lot to a shoot! We drove to the Kelsey Creek and looked at the map to find the trail to the barn, which was up a gravel hill. We shot around 5 pm, an hour and a half before golden hour and the barn was too bright to shoot the front, so we stuck to the shade.
Then, Kerstin changed outfits and we walked back down the hill. It was a Monday afternoon and we basically had the whole park to ourselves. We took photos by the wooden bridge and then walked to the grassy area. I love how clean and green Bellevue parks are, it’s definitely something I miss when I’m in LA. It was pretty warm outside and the shoot was pretty quick, but we got a lot of good photos!
I feel like I edited these a little differently from my normal style and made them a little less vibrant and less contrasted. Here are some before and afters:
