I wanted to get back into photography this year, so I planned a Venice Canals photo shoot with my friend Julia who came up from Orange County to model for me. She has been on an incredible fitness and health journey and has lost 60 lbs since last summer! She’s recording her progress on Instagram. She also has a fitness podcast with her trainer, my friend Rachel! It’s called Girls, Gains, and Growing Pains, and I love listening to them on Spotify during my morning walks.
While I enjoy a city shoot, I also like to find places in Los Angeles that don’t feel like you’re in the big city. If you’ve visited LA, you may have been to Venice Beach. However, you may not have been to the Venice Canals Historic District. There aren’t any gondolas (but some people kayak!), and it’s only a few blocks wide, but it’s the closest to Italy that we have. The houses that line the canals are all unique, and I think it would be so fun to rent one as an Airbnb! It’s peaceful and quiet, and I love shooting here during sunset.
I didn’t really have a plan, so we just walked around the canals and Julia periodically changed outfits. I love how these photos turned out, and I am excited to do more shoots this year!
Great photography!
