2025 Resolutions Results

2025 RESOLUTIONS RESULTS: 5.5/11

Well, it’s been another year of only achieving half of my resolutions. I did stop tracking a lot of these in my Habit app, but I’ll try to be better about it next year. I’m planning on reading a book called Tiny Habits in January to get myself motivated to build my goals/resolutions in 2026.  But again, in my view, the point of making resolutions is to have something to work towards. Some people love instant gratification, but nothing gets me going like a long-term goal. You can read about my past years of resolutions results here.

  1. Be in bed by 10pm every day: NO
Going to bed early is always a resolution, but I forgot I said 10pm was the goal. I’ve been trying to turn off my lamp at 10:30pm and I feel like I’m doing it 50% of the time.
  2. Stretch 3 times a week: NO
I started off the year pretty strong, but ultimately I completely fell off of it. One day, I want to have enough space in my apartment where I can keep my yoga mat permanently on the floor because when it’s put away, I don’t think about it.
  3. Watch 1 movie a week from Maddy’s Movie Challenge: KIND OF
I’m going to give myself half a point for this one because while I didn’t watch movies on the list, I did watch  50 movies this year, and that was the ultimate goal. It definitely helped that my boyfriend’s a big movie guy and I got back on the AMC A-List train. I kept track of all the movies I saw on the Lettrboxd app.
  4. Journal 3 times a month: YES
I did not physically write in a journal 3x a month, but I journaled in my Notes app a lot, and I’m counting that!
  5. Make 2 new recipes a month: YES
I didn’t make 2 new recipes a month, but if you average it all out, I did! I opened up my cookbooks and made some great stuff. My favorites were Giada’s sheet pan lasagna, Greek lemon chicken soup, vegan plum crisp, and Thai tea granola.
  6. Make a new friend within walking distance: NO
I totally forgot this was a resolution, but how cute would that have been? My friend Steph moved literally down my street, but I don’t count that.
  7. Do 5 new hikes: NO
I didn’t really do any new hikes except some very short trails during a few of my trips: Pismo Preserve in Pismo Beach and Arthur’s Ridge in Edinburgh. I think I’ll set this as a goal for next year.
  8. Volunteer 5 times: YES
I love an event, and I volunteered for some fun events and cool charities this year. I helped with packet pick up at the Culver City Screenland 5k, volunteered to set up and greet guests at some panel sessions at the LA Times Festival of Books, assembled new mom kits at Baby2Baby in Culver City, assembled holiday care packages for Precious Dreams Foundation through my work, and worked the check-in station at Upper Deck Golf x Stand Up to Cancer at Dodger’s Stadium. I also donated blood for the first time for the American Red Cross, which I quasi count as volunteering.
  9. Complete the Google Analytics 4 online certification course: NO
Welp, I completely forgot about this.

  10. Learn to embroider: YES
I learned to embroider and am now on my way to start my embroidery empire. Or at least another side hustle. More information and photos are in this blog post.
  11. No adding books to my bookshelf or buying new clothes: YES
I’m giving myself some leeway here. I did get 2 new books, but I’m still counting this as a successful resolution. I had to buy a Giada cookbook to guarantee a seat at her live book event in Brentwood, and I received a book as a gift from my friend Camilla for taking her maternity photos. For clothing, I bought myself a t-shirt as a souvenir from Scotland and a jacket in London, and bought some new underwear because that was a necessity. But I didn’t online shop, I didn’t buy anything at the mall, I didn’t get anything during the Black Friday sales, I was good!!

To measure and track my progress in past years, I’ve used the Habit Tracker app and plan to get back on it for next year.  It’s very customizable and you can see your progress in daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly views. You can even have collaborative goals with other people (we love an accountability partner).
