2020 New Year’s Resolutions

New year, new me, new resolutions.

I learned a lot from my 2019 Resolutions!  Now I’m in the habit of catching sunrise and photographing new people.  This year I want to be more conscious and do more for self-care.

2020 RESOLUTIONS

1. Run a half marathon
Will this ever not be on the list?? I should’ve signed up for one in high school, but 13.1 miles just seemed so daunting, but it would’ve been more doable back then when I was in shape for cross country and soccer.  I’m signed up for the Seattle Rock n Roll Half Marathon in June so I’m going to start training asap.

2. Have 50% of models I photograph be people of color.
I realize that a lot of my friends and people I typically photograph are white.  I want to meet more diverse people and shoot all skin tones.

3. Try one new recipe a month
This one may prove to be the hardest one since all I really don’t like being in the kitchen.  I am content with my salads, chili, and scrambled eggs, but I guess I should try to learn something new.

4. Only buy clothes from secondhand stores
I don’t typically buy a lot of clothes in general.  I’m definitely not a fashionista! I also haven’t been to that many thrift shops in Los Angeles, so I want to start finding clothes there and even buy clothes just for photoshoots.

5. Listen to one podcast a week
Although I do really enjoy listening to podcasts, I don’t really listen to them except when I’m in the car.  Since my office is only 15 minutes away, it doesn’t really give me much time to listen to a whole episode, so I’m going to have to find a time to just sit back and listen.

6. Read 6 books
I couldn’t even read 5 last year, but hopefully I can read 6 this year! I really should use my library cards.

7. Go to church once a month
I wasn’t raised in a religious household or even social circle, but I went to church in Beverly Hills and I liked it.  It’s never been a priority to go, but I always feel good when I leave, so might as well go more often for some spiritual self-care.

8. Drink 64oz of water a day
I just need to drink more water.  Even if it’s 50oz a day, that’s better than I usually do.  Time to put my Hydroflask to good use.

9. Be more informed by reading my headlines on Feedly, The Skimm, Apple News, do what I gotta do.
The news is so depressing and political, I prefer not to check the big news sites, but it’s time to become an informed citizen.

10. Play the guitar or ukulele once a week
I want to build my callouses back up! Maybe write some more songs.

11. Create a daily skincare routine and stick to it
I’m lucky that I haven’t had to create a skincare routine already.  I don’t have any acne that I’m trying to clear up, but I know that it’s important to take care of my skin. Maybe I’ll buy a fancy serum or something, who knows?

I downloaded and paid for the Done app on my iPhone and have been tracking my daily, weekly, and monthly goals. I love going to bed with all my daily goals completed!
